Inspired on the waterfall, the heritage Rack D house building, located in the Distillery District, was given a second life.

In order to increase the amount of natural light a skylight was installed that provides light to the whole building throughout a courtyard. This six-storey building manages to accommodate a cafeteria, photograph studio, workshop, retail store, meeting rooms, Gesell rooms, collaborative workspace, workstations, library, gym, lounge and a juice bar.

The space seeks to create a space where young designers and entrepreneurs can collaborate and create.

Guggenheim

Guggenheim Museum

Location: Helsinki, Finland

Type: Cultural

Size: 18,500 sq.m.

Status: Concept, Competition

The essence of Guggenheim Helsinki lies in its ability to connect with the people, the water, and the city. Located at a junction, where the urban fabric meets nature - water from one side, park from another, the building presents itself as an inviting gesture. A dramatic void is hollowed out of a solid volume, creates a unique open environment encouraging movement and activity. This public space is a new room for the people of Helsinki and its visitors - the ‘City Room’. Visible from the water’s edge, the City Room is a hybrid space, combining an amphitheater, exhibition and event space. It is both a place of encounter and contemplation. Guggenheim Helsinki balances a bold gesture with an unobtrusive profile. Its formalism is contained, yet visible in an efficient and compact volume.
